Event Description:

Is your business cyber-secure?

The CBD Sydney Chamber presents a panel discussion on what you might consider to be confident you can adequately respond to this question. It's not just about the technology. It reaches into your insurance cover, team training, the legal implications you may not have considered and even the potential anxiety a breach might create among your team.

For a small business, even a minor cyber security incident can have devastating impacts*

Cyber security is talked about in the media a lot.

This facilitated panel discussion is different. It explores more than what to watch out for. The panel will feature businesses which have experience dealing with hacks. What you'll hear provides the motivation and knowledge on how to be more prepared than ever before.

So why are SME's not as knowledgeable as they should be? Research indicates that cost and relevance are key factors for lack of engagement. Despite ongoing commentary among business & government and experts in the media, research indicates that:

"One in three survey respondents has not taken any action as they cannot afford it. About 15% have not taken any actions to enhance cybersecurity management as they do not see the relevance to their business. Of the businesses that have enhanced their cybersecurity, the most common step is to upgrade their systems (32%). This is followed by engaging expert consultants (15%), acquiring additional training (14%) and upgrading equipment (12%)".

Being the victim of a cyber event is more likely than ever
  • Hear from an expert on experiences of businesses that have been victims of cyber attacks
  • An Optus partner business will talk and take questions on its well-publicised experience and the implications this may hold for SME's
  • Q&A facilitated by Sarah McAvoy of CyberUnlocked who is also a 2023 Cyber Security Champion for this October's Cyber Security Month with a panel of experts across
    • Cyber insurance - is your business really covered
    • Cyber threats - is your network, small or large, truly protected
    • Cyber training - your people are  your best defence, training opportunities discussed
    • Cyber documentation & liabilities - legally, where do you stand if your information is hacked

And the impact on Cyber threats on your teams mental health - the constant need to be on alert creates anxiety among some team members.
